Engaging a Village (and it takes one)
I love my Village of educators. I wouldn’t be the educator I am today without this support network. If you are a connected educator then you know what I mean. It is SO important. I engage with my village when Im in class or when I go to a conference.
It’s not just a community its actually a village . A village that laughs, disagrees, shares and sometimes cries. We make connections virtually and strengthen those ties when we meet face to face. We can be tightly bound in the virtual world that when we meet we are best friends. We bond and are connected. We share experiences. I love my village. It’s where I learn and more importantly its where I am challenged. I don’t agree with everything the villagers say and thats where the strength is. I have had a chance to discuss and see different points of view. I get new ideas to try. Its what we expect from out learners. Those bonds that ebb and flo with information, experience.
S0….I met so many Villagers at Learning2Asia. Check it out.
If you want to join or start a village:
- talk to others
- say hello- initiate
- get on Twitter!
- be open and want share
- be open minded and a be empathetic
So….Chill out have fun we all learn form each other.
Hey Jay,
I had an immediate connection with your post. By accident rather than design I happened again on our oldish / youngish friend Nick Martin’s blog where he describes his first foray into the world of leading a PYP workshop https://mrnickmartin.wordpress.com/2012/04/20/my-first-foray-into-the-world-of-leading-a-pyp-workshop/ For both of us it was a memorable experience where we felt surrounded by friends eager to help us, challenge us and make us better people.
Keep sharing
Noah
