On to a new journey, down the road……. to Jakarta

After 6 great years at Bandung International School, @susijava99 and I have decided that its time for a change. With our eldest daughter heading into Grade 7, it was time to stay or move.

Fortunately, new opportunities are calling. We love Indonesia. Our kids grew up here for most of their lives so we are glad that we aren’t moving that far.  In fact just down the (toll) road. We are very happy and excited to join the Jakarta International School family in July 2015.

Looking Back. Its pretty awesome to think back almost 6 years and recount our journey. The friends, colleagues, mentors and acquaintances over the years that have been part of our lives. I cant help but acknowledge those ‘peeps’ in my learning community that helped me to be the best teacher I can be and will continue to help me be the best teacher I can be in years to come.  Looking back at the communities of learners that have helped me… #pypchat #coetail #kinderchat #satchat #satchatoc and the great conferences that have shaped my professional learning such as #Learning2 (I went to 4 in a row- BEST PD ever) and various EARCOS events. Of course the IBPYP workshop leader and development opportunities I’ve been involved in and the online workshop facilitation duties have played a HUGE part of me being the best teacher I can be. All great learning experiences and connections. Of course I thank the awesome teachers Ive worked with at BIS. Too many to name.

Looking Forward.  I don’t leave all these great experiences  and connections behind but take them with me as I expand my community even more. I take them onto my next journey and I am forever grateful for the opportunities and folks I’ve met along the way so here is looking forward to more collaboration and learning.  

One thing I know for sure is that without my network of awesome educators I would not have the opportunities that I have. So as we make our transition to a much bigger school, we will always remember the great folks we worked with, both online and face to face.

We wont say goodbye, but sampai jumpa nanti (see you later).
