#Kinderblog2012: Question numero quatre!
This 4th installment of the #kinderblog2012 challenge made me stop think and reflect.
The challenge: Choose one of the below.
Version 1: If you had not become a teacher, what other field or line of work would you have pursued?
Version 2: If you had to quit teaching tomorrow, what would you do instead?
I make a difference
Well I chose Version 1. To begin with-its complicated. In brief here’s what happened:I worked in engineering (railway signalling). Left it for teaching. Became disenfranchised with teaching in public schools, went back to engineering. Two years later realised how much I loved teaching and making a difference. So guess what happened next?
So I guess if I wasn’t teaching I’d be doing the project management railway signal engineering thing. Why? Because its a job. Pay was great, work hours sucked. I felt somewhat empty at the end of the day.
What makes teaching SO much better for me? I actually look forward to getting up in the morning and feel satisfied at the end of the day when I go home.
I know Ive made a difference.
Never having done anything else but working w little kids, all of my friends who have left the teaching profession echo your sentiment of “feeling a little empty at the end of the day”. It definitely feels good to see impact each and every day! Cheers to you Jason!
