The Disconnect

Perhaps many MS or HS educators will disagree but I see a distinct disconnect in schooling. In ES it is all about inquiry. In MS and HS where standardised test scores are held in such high regard (why?- because Universities demand this for admission) one cant blame teacher for having a content based curriculum and teach to the test. ROTE anyone?

In university, you need to apply this knowledge in a meaningful way- Hmm, sounds like inquiry again doesnt it? And when you get a job (isnt that this the whole point of it all)? you need to be able to use this knowledge.
