Spezify

January 15, 2011

It seems like a week or a day doesn’t go by without stumbling up a new tool. My latest ‘discovery is spezify http://www.spezify.com/ which is a search engine that searches blogs, wikis, real-time messages, twitter, facebook, videos etc….and brings up an interactive visual page for you to conduct your search.  Now that’s a pretty cool and powerful tool. because it can bring up real-time messages and it picks the sites that best matches the request, it would be a good idea to preview it before you use it in class, and remember that returns can change. This means that when I typed in ‘vibrations‘ I found some pretty cool experiments and science websites, videos about how sound moves, BUT I also found a few ‘product adverts’ that I’m sure my grade 1 class would have found a bit confusing! With the security side out of the way its a cool and fun way to search especially for the visual learner.

How do you find these things? I think you should give a workshop on how to organize “exploring new technology” time!
